U.S. NAVY SEIZES IRANIAN-FLAGGED SHIP IN GULF OF OMAN AFTER ALLEGED BLOCKADE BREACH

April 22, 2026

The United States Navy has reportedly seized an Iranian-flagged cargo ship after it allegedly attempted to breach a U.S. naval blockade in the Gulf of Oman.

U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed the development, stating that the vessel tried to pass through restricted waters despite repeated warnings from American naval forces.

According to reports, the ship was intercepted after it failed to comply with instructions to stop, prompting U.S. forces to disable its movement before boarding and taking control of the vessel.

The operation is said to be part of ongoing U.S. maritime enforcement targeting vessels linked to Iran. U.S. Central Command maintains that ships violating blockade restrictions risk interception.

However, Iran has strongly condemned the incident, describing it as an act of aggression and “armed piracy,” while warning of possible retaliation.

The development has further heightened tensions between Washington and Tehran, raising fresh concerns over stability in the Gulf region as diplomatic efforts remain uncertain.
