TINUBU TASKS NLNG TO TURN NIGERIA’S GAS RESERVES INTO ECONOMIC BENEFITS
August 27, 2026
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has charged the management of the Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas (NLNG) Limited to maximise the country’s abundant gas reserves and convert them into tangible economic benefits.
Tinubu gave the charge on Wednesday at the State House in Abuja while receiving members of the NLNG Board, led by its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Engineer Adeleye Falade.
The President’s position comes after Nigeria flared more than 203.9 billion standard cubic feet of natural gas in 2025, highlighting concerns over the loss of valuable resources that could generate additional revenue and support industrial development.
According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu emphasised the need for NLNG to play a stronger role in unlocking the economic potential of Nigeria’s gas resources.
The President’s directive underscores the Federal Government’s efforts to deepen gas utilisation, attract investment and maximise the value of Nigeria’s vast gas reserves.
