TINUBU BEGINS 2027 CONSULTATIONS WITH APC LEADERS

August 19, 2026

President Bola Tinubu has commenced consultations with key members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as preparations for the 2027 presidential election gather momentum.

Tinubu held closed-door meetings at the State House in Abuja with Senate President Godswill Akpabio, House Majority Leader Julius Kalu and other senior political figures as he prepares to seek a second term in office.

The consultations come a day after the President, represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, addressed the National Peace Accord ahead of the 2027 elections.

Tinubu urged political actors to uphold peace, unity and democratic values as political activities and campaigns intensify.

The 2027 presidential contest is expected to feature Tinubu against major opposition figures, including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and Labour Party’s Peter Obi.

The latest meetings are seen as part of early political consultations and mobilisation ahead of the presidential campaign.
