RUSSIA’S JET FUEL EXPORT BAN MAY BOOST DANGOTE REFINERY’S GLOBAL MARKET POSITION

June 11, 2026

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery could strengthen its position in the global aviation fuel market following Russia’s decision to extend its ban on jet fuel exports until 30 November 2026. The move is linked to ongoing disruptions caused by attacks on Russian refining infrastructure.

Russia said the restriction is aimed at securing domestic aviation fuel supply as Ukrainian drone strikes continue to affect key refineries and export facilities. The ban follows earlier limits on gasoline exports introduced in April.

Although Russia is not a major global exporter of jet fuel, the development raises concerns about tighter global aviation fuel supply at a time of recovering demand and continued geopolitical pressures affecting energy markets.
