OJUDU SEEKS CLARIFICATION ON AKURE-Ado-EKITI ROAD PROJECT

August 19, 2026

Former presidential adviser, Babafemi Ojudu, has called on the Federal Government to clarify the status and scope of the Akure-Ado-Ekiti road project.

Ojudu raised concerns over what he described as an apparent change in the scope of the 50-kilometre project, which he said was originally approved in 2023 as a dual carriageway at an estimated cost of ₦95.98 billion.

According to him, contractors initially mobilised to the site, cleared sections for the second carriageway and commenced work on bridges and other structures.

He, however, said recent developments appeared to suggest that the project had been scaled down to the rehabilitation of a single carriageway, while work on the proposed second carriageway had stalled.

Ojudu urged the Minister of Works, David Umahi, to clarify the original scope of the contract, the amount of money released so far and the level of work completed on the project.

He stressed that the Akure-Ado-Ekiti road remains critical to commuters and economic activities between Ondo and Ekiti states, making transparency on its scope and implementation important to the people of both states.
