MINORITY CAUCUS ACCUSES TINUBU ADMINISTRATION OF FAILING TO TACKLE INSECURITY, ECONOMIC HARDSHIP

June 19, 2026

The minority caucus of the House of Representatives has criticised the administration of President Bola Tinubu, accusing it of failing to effectively tackle worsening insecurity, deepening economic hardship, and what it described as threats to democratic governance in the country.

The lawmakers expressed concern that while these challenges persist, the government appears increasingly preoccupied with political considerations ahead of the 2027 general elections. They argued that the situation has left many Nigerians struggling amid rising poverty and widespread public discontent.

Speaking to journalists at the National Assembly Complex in Abuja on Wednesday, Minority Leader Fred Agbedi said the country was going through one of its most difficult periods since the return to democratic rule in 1999. He warned that Nigeria is bleeding, Nigeria is confused, adding that the current situation reflects a government that has prioritised electioneering over the welfare of citizens.
