INEC TO RESUME FINAL PHASE OF VOTER REGISTRATION ON MAY 11
May 09, 2026
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced that the final phase of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) will begin nationwide on May 11, 2026, as part of preparations for the 2027 Nigerian general elections. The exercise will run until July 10, offering Nigerians another opportunity to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and update their voter details.
According to the commission, the exercise is open to citizens who recently turned 18, those who have never registered before, registered voters who wish to transfer their polling units, individuals seeking correction of personal information, and those whose PVCs are lost or damaged.
INEC explained that the earlier phase of the registration was paused to allow for data cleanup and verification after the voter register was published for claims and objections. The upcoming phase will provide both online and physical registration options to make the process more accessible to eligible Nigerians ahead of the 2027 polls.
