FAAN FACES CRITICISM OVER ₦30,000 AIRPORT CAR-HIRE FARE IN LAGOS
August 27, 2026
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) is facing criticism over the cost of its newly introduced airport car-hire service after a viral video showed a passenger being quoted ₦30,000 for a trip from the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos to Ikeja.
The controversy followed a video shared on TikTok by travel content creator Chris Joondeph, popularly known as Authentic Traveling, who recounted his experience at the Lagos airport.
Joondeph said an airport car-hire operator quoted ₦30,000 for a trip to the Radisson Blu Hotel in Ikeja, describing the fare as significantly higher than what he was accustomed to paying for the journey.
The incident has sparked discussions among travellers and social media users over the pricing of airport transportation services and whether the newly introduced car-hire service offers competitive fares.
The development has also drawn renewed attention to the cost of transportation from Nigeria’s major airports and the need for transparent and affordable pricing for passengers.
