August 13, 2026

The Ekiti State Police Command has pledged its support for the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Anti-Quackery Task Force in its efforts to eliminate fake journalists and promote professionalism in the media industry.

The Commissioner of Police, Michael Falade, gave the assurance during a meeting with members of the task force, stressing the importance of collaboration between the police and the NUJ in identifying and prosecuting individuals engaging in illegal journalism practices.

Falade said the command was ready to work with the task force and other relevant stakeholders to protect the integrity of journalism and ensure compliance with professional standards.

The NUJ described the partnership as a major step towards protecting the integrity of the profession and sanitising the media industry in Ekiti State.

The task force is expected to work closely with security agencies to identify and take action against individuals operating as journalists without the required qualifications or accreditation.
