EFCC RECOVERS OVER ₦115BN, $84M IN OUTSTANDING NDDC LEVIES FROM OIL COMPANIES

August 13, 2026

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) says it has recovered more than ₦115 billion and $84 million in outstanding statutory levies owed to the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) by oil companies.

The disclosure was made during a meeting of the Senate Public Accounts Committee, which is investigating issues raised in the 2021–2023 Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) Oil and Gas Industry Audit Report.

According to the EFCC, 24 of the 43 oil companies investigated were found to have outstanding liabilities relating to the three per cent statutory levy payable to the NDDC.

The commission said a significant portion of the recovered funds had already been transferred to the NDDC, while the remaining balance was being held in its recovery account.

The EFCC said the recovery was part of efforts to ensure compliance with statutory obligations and recover funds due to government agencies.
